A grin and a prayer..

Tony Blair beat European leaders yesterday in the race to meet Barack Obama. The former Prime Minister met the US President at a National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. And he warned Mr Obama not to get Shox Gocarried away with his worldwide adulation. Mr Blair said: "You don't need cheerleaders but partners, not spectators but supporters. "The truest friends are those still around when the going gets toughest." Mr Blair, who is now an envoy to the Middle East, also told President Obama he should turn to religion in times of difficulty. He said: "Should it be tested, I hope your faith can sustain you and your family. The public eye is not always the most congenial." President Obama in turn was quick to praise Mr Blair's "leadership". He said: "I want to thank my good friend Tony BlairUGG Summit for coming. He has been an example to so many people around the world of what dedicated leadership can accomplish." There has been a diplomatic race between European leaders to become the first to meet President Obama, with Gordon Brown the first to get a phone call. But no date has been set for him, French President Nicolas Sarkozy or German Chancellor Angela Merkel to meet Mr Obama.
